Redecoration & styling a new build eco flat

This refurb was in a 1930’s flat in Alexander Park. The owner had lived in the flat for more than 10 years and now wanted to make some improvements and upgrades. She was ready for a bit of colour!

We started with all the practical things like upgrading her electrics – very important,  and sorting out her boiler before we began on a complete renovation of her bathroom.  She had inherited a very beige bathroom with the sale so we went for a complete change and added a mix Bert & May green and off white square tiles, and a pop of burnt orange in the window frames with some geometric colourful triangles for the floor. The zoning of colours gave the bathroom a more spacious and interesting feel. We upgraded all her bathroom fittings and added a lovely flutted glass shower screen.

Next, we moved on to her bedroom which had no storage and lots of odd pieces of furniture. After assessing all her storage needs, we designed 2 large built in wardrobes with a mix of adjustable shelves and drawer, plus plenty of hanging space. This meant she could get rid of all the excess furniture and have a much more focused bedroom that we drenched in a moody pink from Farrow & Ball. The result was a very relaxing, calm sanctuary with no clutter!

Finally we focussed on the hallway – the first thing you see when you open your front door, so it deserves some love. After getting rid of all the electrical trunking there was lots of ‘making good’ to do. We wanted the stain glass window to be the focus point to bring out all the colours from the pattern . In keeping with the rest of the renovation we chose a palette of greens and pinks for the hallway, with a soft off white to break things up.

My was very happy with all the changes and has made her fall in love with her home again and happy to stay there for another 10 years.

It was a pleasure to work with Sarah. She took the time to really understand what we wanted from the project and made great suggestions that I would never have thought of by myself. She coordinated the project with great care and attention to detail and communicated fully throughout, sorting out any problems that arose along the way. The selection of tradespeople she works with are all great. We are very pleased with our new bedroom, bathroom and hallway, and would recommend Sarah to anyone who is ready to spend a bit of money on giving their home a high quality, tasteful makeover.
