My clients had recently bought this family house and were lucky enough to inherit a classic oak herringbone floor and a gorgeous orange & peach kitchen by Uncommon Projects, which set the tone for our work together.
Firstly, we redecorated the entire house in a new colour palette of varying shades of greens, off whites, blues, and a bright yellow. We then replaced the stair runner and carpets with a neutral grey flatweave carpet. We replaced all the light fittings with new designer pieces that really set the mid-century style tone.
My clients already had some furniture and were happy to let go of things that didn’t work in this new home. This gave us scope to buy new pieces that all tied in together and fitted with the mid-century style we had settled on. We choose new curtains and blinds, plus some accessories for the living room and kids bedroom.
There is still more to do on the project but sometimes it works better for clients to do work in stages – it means you can really consider your choices more and prioritise rooms, plus it always helps to spread out your costs.
