This was a project for a young family who had recently bought in Stoke Newington. After living in the house for a couple of years, they felt ready to finally put their own stamp on their home. That’s where I came in to add design ideas and colour direction.
We completely redecorated the whole house in a new bolder colour palette that was coordinated with new furniture and bespoke joinery for the living room – this included adding a whole new storage unit for coats and shoes in an earthy tuscan red, that felt more like a piece of furniture than the old wardrobe it replaced. We also designed a dedicated unit for their girls to focus on crafts and drawing – this gave them a long stretch of work surface and plenty of cupboards and shelves for storage – all in a practical, wipeable white formica and ply. We also designed a new built in wardrobe and clothes storage in a vintage blue to compliment the powder pink walls.
All the lighting was replaced with new fittings to match the new decor and updated furniture plan. Finally we added a stripy stair runner and new carpets to really lift the upstairs spaces. We rehung all their artwork in new places to really bring the new space together.
The results made a huge difference to this family who finally feel it really is now their home.
